Subic Bay, Philippines, June 13, 1969

While moored at River Point pier, Subic Bay, Philippines, stern to the pier, the Royal Navy diesel submarine HMS Rorqurl SS2 approached a little too fast, ramming Endurance amidships.

No one was injured, but damage was done to the Chief's Head and Chief's ward room.

Rorqual's telegraphman turned the port engine order telegraph in the wrong direction causing the port engine to go "half ahead" versus "half astern.

The end of the Rorqual.  This was taken in Sept. 1981 at Laira breakers yard near Plymouth, UK.
