First of all, great website. Neat
to see the pictures and the history of the ENDURANCE.
You probably are not aware that the mine force has implemented a rotational
crew concept again. This time instead of utilizing detachments, each
crew has adopted a former MSO name. Our crew, officially called MHC
CREW KILO, has selected ENDURANCE, and will soon be officially referred
to as CREW ENDURANCE.
We are currently embarked on USS
HERON (MHC 52) in Ingleside, Texas. Since we just rotated to the HERON
hull, we are trying to gather some photos or memorabilia to redecorate
the mess decks. The Navy Historical Archives has only four photos of
MSO-435. However, what was so neat about your site was the photos of
the sailors, as that is what makes a ship come to life. We would like
to capture that history and comraderie for our crew.
In closing, I would like to ask if these photos were available to be
scanned at a much higher resolution to allow printing and framing for
display on the messdecks. Additionally, I would like to offer any assistance
to you and your organization that may support your desire to document
and chronicle the contributions and fun times that the mine forces have
enjoyed.
Very respectfully,
LCDR Blaine Parkerson
Executive Officer
